2004-07-23 Productions Nemesis "buzzing" about its final show of the 2003-2004 season Ottawa, July 23, 2004 - For the second year in a row, Productions Nemesis is producing a bilingual musical to close its theatre season. Show Buzz follows in the footsteps of Extravaganza!, a musical showcase that attracted nearly 200 spectators last year. In Show Buzz, an energetic show of song and dance, a dozen young artists from the Ottawa-Gatineau region relive favourite Broadway songs from such musicals as Flower Drum Song, Cabaret, Sunset Boulevard and Starmania - in an original context. "Actually, Show Buzz has borrowed from many musicals, some known, some lesser known, to tell a new story of a stage star whose role is usurped by a former movie star," says Arianne M. Matte, director and producer of Show Buzz. "It's a fun show filled with talent," says Marilla Montgomery, musical director of Show Buzz. "Our cast and crew are multi-cultural and multi-talented and it’s well worth it to attend the show." In addition to its annual musical show, Productions Nemesis gives youth of the Ottawa region the opportunity to produce original works in French and in English. "Like all of our other shows, Show Buzz allows us, as young artists, to gain experience in an original creation space," adds Matte, who also serves as the theatre company's co-president. Show Buzz is the last production of Productions Nemesis' fourth season, which enjoyed great successes, notably Slipping Mind, which premiered at the National Arts Centre's Fourth Stage, and Les fourberies de Molière ou Le Molière imaginaire, winner of a Best of Venue prize during the 8th edition of the Ottawa Fringe Festival. Keep your eyes and ears open in September when the young theatre company will announce its upcoming season line-up in celebration of its fifth anniversary! -30- Productions Nemesis (613) 567-6673 www.ProductionsNemesis.org Back to press releases |
