Fantastic Reality
Written by Arianne M. Matte and Directed by Guy Marsan
Meghan VanIderstine (Dilys)
Meghan is a second year journalism student at Carleton University. Last year she attended Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, which is much closer to her home in Moncton, but she left the Maritimes to pursue a dream of foreign correspondence. Meghan has performed in various high school productions, and as a member of the chorus in Mount A.'s production of Annie, Get Your Gun!, though singing is not among her talents. Meghan is glad to be taking part in this production.
Amal K. Ahmed (Iren)
Amal has been a drama queen ever since she can remember. However, this is the first time - that she can recall - that she gets to play a "normal" character like Iren. Her most recent character sketches having included playing Gertrude Stein in Chamber Music for the Sears Festival, and a Witch in A Child's View of Shakespeare. Thanks to this production, she was introduced to the eclectic Productions Nemesis crowd, and being one of the only non-francophone cast members, she is looking forward to further theatrical escapades with her "non-English" crew.
Marc Dion (Gilmour)
Marc is extremely handsome. Thanks to this and his many talents, he has built an impressive theatre resumé over the past few years. Among his credits are: Jesus Christ Superstar with Sock 'n' Buskin (2001), Kathleen O'Hollihan by the Tara Players (2000), Salomé at the Ottawa Fringe Festival (2000), and Sweet Bird of Youth (1999). His good looks and talents can be presently found doing improv at The Institution.
Simon Préfontaine (DaWyn)
Simon comes to us all the way from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He has already done numerous plays there, mostly in French. Simon is in his first year studying Communications at the University of Ottawa.
Angela-Terese Cumberbatch (Treeni)
A second year student in International business, Angela-Terese has previously played in Carleton University's rendition of The Vagina Monologues last year, and before that she played in God, Babes In Gangland, and Cyrano de Bergerac at St. Augustine Secondary School in Brampton. Angela-Terese enjoys playing Treeni as she identifies so profoundly with this character. Most times, she cannot tell whether she is being Angela-Terese or being Treeni.
Pierre Antoine Lafon Simard (Henryk)
First trained in Montreal (K, 2001; Nevermind, 2002), Pierre Antoine has recently played in L'Invitation au château with Comédie des deux rives at the University of Ottawa where he is continuing his training. This is his first collaboration with Productions Nemesis.
Marie Ouellette (Meganchip)
Marie is currently majoring in French at the University of Ottawa. Fantastic Reality will be her first play in years; she intends to pursue a career in writing, but being on stage again will be an interesting change of pace. Her previous credits include Les maris fondus and Les animaux malades de la peste by Jean de la Fontaine.
Vincent Pilon (Meganchip)
Vincent is a second year theatre student at the University of Ottawa. He has previously worked with the Theatre du Village, in Orléans, with whom he performed in Madelaine d'Orleans and La grosse boîte. For the Departement of Theatre Vincent has played in Don Gil de vert culotté and L'Invitation au château. He also played a role in Peau des ongles for Production Nemesis.
Guy Marsan (Director)
Guy is a theatre major at the University of Ottawa. Fantastic Reality is his directorial début, but he has acted in many productions in the past four years. He played in A Child's View of Shakespeare and First Cool of Summer in December 2000 and 2001, respectively, for Sock 'n' Buskin Studio Series. He played in Conversations and Peau des ongles, plays performed at the past two editions of the Ottawa Fringe Festival. Guy is glad to try his hand at directing and hopes it will help him grow in the wonderful field of theatre.
Nora Torres (Assistant Director)
At Ridgemont High School, Nora was part of the cast in Romeo and Juliet and Our Town. Since her arrival at Carleton University, she has participated in a number of productions, including A Child's View of Shakespeare (2000) and Conversations (2001) with Productions Nemesis, comedy shows Brutebuffet O'love and Brutebuffet O'heroes with Bruteman Productions, and Carleton University's The Vagina Monologues (2002). It has been an amazing experience for Nora to work with her good friend and talented actor Guy Marsan, and certainly with the fantastic actors that are playing here.
