Sola Luctor

Sola Luctor was Productions Nemesis' first bilingual effort. Sola Luctor featured two original one-act plays - the first in French, the second in English - at the Orleans Theatre, formerly the Cumberland Town Hall, from January 16-18, 2003, at 7:30 p.m.

Au-delà du livre and Melancholy Elephants were the two plays of Sola Luctor. The first was written by a young artist of the region, the second was a stage adaptation of author Spider Robinson's Hugo award-winning tale of the same title.

Alexandre Matte, producer of Sola Luctor, described the as a discovery of art through unconventional mouthpieces: a book's main character, and a political lobbyist.

"Sola Luctor, meaning 'Alone, I struggle' in Latin," explainen Matte, "describes the state of the two women featured in these two plays. They both must come to terms with the world around them and fight for their say against the conventionality too often attributed to mainstream art."
